How to Turn Analysis Into a Recommendation

Analysis tells people what you found. A recommendation tells them what to do. Most reports stop one step too early.

The short version

The common mistake is walking people through everything you did, in the order you did it. Busy people don't want the journey. They want the answer.

Lead with the recommendation in one sentence. Follow with the three reasons it's right. Then show the evidence for each reason. Finish with exactly what needs to happen next and what you need from them.

If you can't write the recommendation in one sentence, you're not ready to present. Go back to the analysis.

Try it now. Put this into practice with the Recommendation Builder (coming soon).
